Thank you all for your information. It is greatly appreciated. I have passed it all on to my SIL. I know she is thankful for it. Have a great day!by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi, My SIL has asked me to post. Her husband is 56 years old and has been in a NH a couple years. The last few months he has been losing a tremdous amount of weight. He is on no medications. A blood test was ran a couple weeks ago for thyroid problems and at first she was told there was a thyroid problem. The NH ran it again using anotherdr, etc. and was told there was an error made the fby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
It has been a long time since I have posted although I do read the posts that come in. This one had me so "fired up". I cannot believe how someone who is "supposed to be educated" - to what degree I really wonder - can actually get away with publishing a book such as this. I think she may have had one caffeine too many! I only hope the book is under the correct categby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Jean- First, JL was the one who posted the contact names and I am so thankful for those. Jean, thank you so much for the additional information. I am anxious to look at the videos. I will also pass this information on to my nephews. I am anxious to view the videos and to talk to these people. I have talked to both of their offices and we are trying to connect. Thank you all so very veby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I agree with Diane. There was a period of time my husband would become very angry at me to the first point in my life I actually felt somewhat threatened by him. Even I knew this wasn't the real him, he could still be capable of hurting me. It took a lot of talking and convincing but I was finally able to get him to a good psychiatrist (he felt the appt was also for me which was fine). I actuby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
JL- Thank you so very much for the information. I will pass it on. That information saved many of us many hours trying to find someone. We appreciate it very much!!! Sharonby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Does anyone know of a good neurologist or HD Centre of Excellence in the Salem or Portland, Oregon area who deals with HD and is knowledgable of HD? I have a BIL living in the area who most likely has HD and needs to find a place to help him. Thank you. Sharonby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Congratulations - how blessed you all are. A definite gift from God and how beautiful they are!by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My husband is thinking about taking creatine before breakfast in the morning. Is this a good idea or is it better to get something in one's stomach for the day before taking creatine or does it make any difference. Thank you for your input.by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My husband still drives minimally. I am fortunate as he recognizes it makes him nervous to drive in heavy traffic or larger places he is not as familiar with and he lets me drive. He has on occasion talked about not wanting to lose his driving privilege. I have sympathized with him and told him I understand as I wouldn't either but when that time comes that there are two of us to help each othby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
You are very talented in getting the HD message across along with the emotional side. It would be great if a talk show host could have a segment on HD along with a video of this sort. I know Oprah doesn't seem to want anything to do with it but there are others out there. You have a beautiful daughter/family. Without hope life would be pretty desperate regarding many things, not just HD. Wby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thank you all for your replies. It is bright and sunny here today. Hope you all have a bright and sunny day and God Bless all. Sharonby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
We just received an order of the neotine. My husband had previously taken creatine tabs. I had a few questions and would appreciate your answers, what you do, opinions, etc. Can anyone tell us how to take this creatine. It comes in the 5g per packet and what from I have read on here it sounds like 20g is the most desirable amount. Do you take 5g - 4 times a day, 10 g - twice a day, etc. Alsby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi Trey- You are quite the drummer!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for spreading the word about HD into the public. It always seems an illness gets much more notoriety and support when it is publicized by someone in show business and especially if that same person is affected. Although I would never wish this illness on you I appreciate so much the fact that you are speaking about iby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I agree with the prior post. Your daughter is beautiful and there are so many things happening in HD research and hopefully there will be a cure or many things to help very soon. There are already many medications and ways to live that help at present which weren't there many years ago. My husband has HD and we have two beautiful children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. Do I worry about them?by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Good one Ron! Thanks for lightening up the day.by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
From what I have read on here at one time it was the only medication used and not the best one today. My FIL was on haldol and was basically a zombie at times. Many others are available such as risperdal, zyprexa, etc. Many here know more about all of them than I do but haldol would be the last thing I would let my husband take, if ever.by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I wholeheartedly agree with this post. With you two, Steve and Marsha, the board would not be here. That is a very scary thought as there would be no where to get answers to questions on behavior, medications, what can we try, etc. much less an avenue for people who care and understand this illness to get together as a support group and feel comfortable asking or sharing anything. Marsha- Thank you so much for all you do and for letting us know of this article. I was wondering if I were to email the website of the article to my children what url would they use. I tried the one you have here and I can get there by clicking onto it but if I email them that particular link I am not able to find the article. Thank you.by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I just googled HBOT Therapy and the site gave me locations as to where the facilites are in the states. When you and Lisa go to the sessions do you go daily for a period of time or at intervals? Thank you.by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi, I had read something on this before but it is nice to hear how it can possibly help someone with HD. Would you mind giving the name or telephone number of the Doctor. I would like to find out where the nearest facility such as this is in closer proximity to where we live. Also,Lisa is so fortunate to have you in her life.by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Congratulations and enjoy your cruise. It is cold here so Florida and a cruise sound wonderful. I am glad you found this site as well. I also feel very fortunate to have found this site with all the information and great people on it. Again, Congratulations and wishes for a wonderful married life!!by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Whitney- I, as many who have replied, have had some of the same feelings you do. A couple things I try to remember are that once my husband who has HD said "I didn't ask for this disease" which is correct and someone also said you have to remember it is the disease causing certain behaviors and doing the things he does, not him. We are all human and say or do things we regret andby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thank you Barb. I did navigate to the website but thought I wasn't at the correct one as I couldn't see anything in regard to HD. Sometimes you need to go on the day the news is posted as it can change daily in some sites. Maybe that is the case here and the link for the particular day may have had the news on. Thanks though.by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Bonnie- I tried to go to the website you mentioned but was unable to. I went to www.dailynews.mcmaster.ca and also went to Google to see if I could pull it up this way a but was unable to. Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you. Sharonby Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thank you very much, Steve, for all the work you do on this site. If not for you and Marsha it would be a very lonely and tough road to walk with HD. We are truly blessed with you and Marsha and all the work you do. I love the recommended sites!by Shar - Huntington's Disease Support Center
