Does anyone know of a good neurologist or HD Centre of Excellence in the Salem or Portland, Oregon area who deals with HD and is knowledgable of HD?

I have a BIL living in the area who most likely has HD and needs to find a place to help him.

Thank you.
Sharon
Sharon, I know of no COE in the Portland/Salem area.

I was unable to even find a physician with any HD experience in Salem (where I used to work).

I would suggest Oregon Health Sciences University, in Portland. Dr Penelope Hogarth (a neurologist) has lots of experience with HD. Karen Kovak (genetic counselor) does too. Both of them are terrific.

Gee, finally, I get to answer an Oregon question! hot smiley

You want to answer Oregon questions JL? Why are Oregonians so nutty? winking smiley
Can't answer that, E!

Most Oregonians think Southern Californians are totally "bat-shit".....

Depends on one's point of view.

And everyone has one! winking smiley

JL-
Thank you so very much for the information. I will pass it on.

That information saved many of us many hours trying to find someone.

We appreciate it very much!!!

My pleasure, Sharon!
As an aside (all of you know I can't resist those) - and in reponse to Eric's unforgivable and unfounded attack on the proud inhabitants of my glorious state - I have this to add.

The Oregonian primaries are imminent - and I've been suffering through the endless mispronunciations of "Oregon".

I swear to god, I'll vote for the candidate that is able to pronounce it correctly!!!

Even Larry King, the inveterate New-York-ophile who usually manages to mispronounce most EVERYTHING, until someone corrects him in his little earphone - EVEN LARRY finally managed to get it right (at least, a couple of times).

I was extremely proud of Larry. Oregon has only been a state for 150 years - usually Larry is not so quick on the uptake!

Good job Larry!

JL, Larry King was probably on vacation when Oregon became a state and it has taken him awhile to catch up.

Jean-
First, JL was the one who posted the contact names and I am so thankful for those.

Jean, thank you so much for the additional information. I am anxious to look at the videos. I will also pass this information on to my nephews.

I am anxious to view the videos and to talk to these people. I have talked to both of their offices and we are trying to connect.

Thank you all so very very much.
