I think its the meds too. any time some one goes downhill that quickly there has too be a reason. It hapened to my mom when she was in a nursing home. she completely changed and refused to eat. i had to get her off everything and then she was fine. you also have to be careful of hospitalS. One time my mom was sent to the hospital they new nothing about hd and they just made things worse. she diby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Wow. That really sucks. I'm so sorry for what you are going through. Kids can be so harsh. It's like they don't even have half a brain sometimes. HD is such an emotionally draining disease. I'm glad you joined up and posted. There are some great folks here that can provide some emotional support. Peteby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
That's awesome. Such wonderful news.by lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

good luck with everything. it seems like you have a great support system and a nice night planned so try to enjoy. I know its hard. Lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
to tell the truth I think your boyfriend is doing the write thing. hes trying to protect you him and a future family and I think hes right. there are very few people who deal with HD well either as a person with HD or as a caregiver. and what children would not be effected by it. I know my husband and children are really impacted. Lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

there is a list of suggested supplements somewhere. I dont remember off the top of my head. i am am taking fish oil and trehulose and cocunut oil. and its always good to eat right and excercise. some people find ssri antidepressants helpful. and I would be very careful before starting medicine just in case. even supplements I like to start low. This is the link to apply for SSDI. You can fill out the generic stuff yourself and your neuro can fill out the rest. Gather up all of your medical info and apply for SSDI yourself. Even when we need to update Laura’s medical records, the neuro fills out the papers. Here is Phil Hardt’s page about SSDI. It is not clear to me what your advocates function is. I think it can be both physical and mental. though everone is different and not everyone with HD is depressed. I definately go in and out of depression and I've had it about 10 years. for some reason yesterday I felt very happy. I think my dogs do a good job cheering me up. I have 3 a corgi who spends his life watching over me like sheep. a golden who everone knows are cheerful and a coton whoby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I have to disagree with Pete here. if you are at risk you should get it wether you have dependants or not. you never know what the future holds. and youll lock into a lower rate as sarah said. same with long term disability and 25 isnt that young. thats the age I got all of my isurance into place. They are going to find out one way or another. With a positive result, how will you be able to face your parents without a complete meltdown? With a negative result, how will you be able to contain yourself? You will be glowing. You need to do what is right for you. Pby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Laura is always frozen to the bone and never warms up. If I am hearing this correctly, instead of turning up the heat all I have to do is turn on some overhead lights. I'm gonna try it.by lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Hey bsoule. Welcome to the forum. How old are you and sis if you don't mind me asking? My two at risk kids are 18 & 20. Thanks, Peteby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I think there is something to be said about mother’s intuition. Instinctively you know what is right and ok regardless of what husband & mil want, you know what has to be done. Someone is gonna be pissed off but the child will be safe. Pete edit. Laura's LTC terminates at age 65.by lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
