Welcome to the forum Dustyrose. You said you can't find anywhere to go. . . .Did you mean for him or for you? Has he been diagnosed? Are there children in the house? If it isn't safe, you need to leave. Peteby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I wonder if the battle you are fighting is worth it. Is it possible for you to just move on? Get the divorce and start taking care of number 1-5 (you & the girls). It seems to me this is too much for you to handle on your own and the attorneys you hired are wimps. What the heck. . . your attorney said you should write or call the HR dept. again and speak to the head HR guy. That’s useless.by lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

It seems to me you need a diagnosis, an attorney and your husband to be a little more cooperative. I hate to keep bringing up questions that may have been asked/answered previously, but is there any way you can get him tested & diagnosed? What does your attorney say (I can't remember if you have retained one)? I am wondering if "time is of the essence" in this case (termination,by lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hey Barb, Happy belated anniversary. I wanted to chime in about cigarettes. I smoked for years and years, more than 25. When I quit on Nov. 22, 2006 I went straight for the Commit lozenges. I used them until the summer of 2010 (4 years). I switched addictions. I preferred the lozenges over the gum because I could do it anywhere and nobody knew I was getting my fix. I stumbled onto this article and found it relevant to HD. It's from UNC School of Government Law Blog. The author is Robert Joyce. Pete ----- A supervisor overhears one employee tell another that her mother has developed breast cancer. In that inadvertent way, the supervisor—and therefore the employer—has acquired genetic information about the employee. Under the Genetic Informationby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
It would be good if you can get her diagnosed so she would qualify for benifits at work and when she leaves her job. like long term disabilty disabiity etc. and maybe if she was on the right medicine she could keep her job. and if a dr thought that she couldnt do her job she could leave. on sick leave or ltd. We are in raleigh like Will. I'm worried about our timeshare which is in the outerbanks. In the last storm we lost the pool. the resort is ocean front. our unit is set back a little with a veiw on the deck. I told pete someday we would be ocean front. Maybe with this storm!! my mother was in this situation once or twice in a nursing home that specialized in hd and in the hospital once or twice for pulling someones hair that did something to her. and another time she was on medicine recommended by an hd specialist that almost killed her. My point is that I was always there to advocate for her with her docters at the nusing home and in the hospital. and they all lby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I had a chinese dr for about a year before moving to nc. I did accupunctor and took various herbs and food and stuff like that. She never said it would help hd and I didnt expect it too. it was more for general health and improving my enery flow. which we did but improving my energy didnt help my hd at all. not even my fatigue. and accupunctor itself made me nervouse with all of those neadleby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
It could be his medicines causing these problems. I thought haldol was an old and bad drug for hd and im not sure about the other one he is taking .you could have his dr take them away and then see and start over. many people have bad reactions to medicine. I take fish oil and I think it helps with my movements and Ive had hd 10 years. my movements used to be worse now I barely notice them. lby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Space Child's post was in the intro area and I wanted to get it "out there" for us all to welcome. So I copied/pasted here. P Hi to all! I'm A Space Child because I love the book of wackily rewritten Mother Goose nursery rhymes for science loving children in the 1950's. (yes, I'm old enough). I'm in North Carolina and was ironically already on SSDI for mental illness. Had to waiby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
if you do your research on this site youll see that some people believe certain supplements are good for hd based on limited research. some also think exercise and eating right may help. fish oil is the only one i am taking right now. i think it may help with my movements and also my moms. My mother turned into a completely different person when she tried medicine for HD. She was also starving herself. I talked to her nerologist and we got her off of everything. and she was able to live a good happy few more years while only taking fish oil. she died in her sleep. she was in a nusing home with many poeple with hd and they came in one way and ended up as zombies!
