My Grandmother was almost 94 when she died . she passed HD on to my Mom . Mom is 82 and just recently went into a nursing home . The caregivers there all find her very sweet . Mind you that is until they put her in one of those lifts db 'by db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Something that we find helpful with my Mom is , not having distractions while she is eating . No t.v. ; no talking or as little as possiable ; Something I haven't tried yet , but I thought about trying is a small spoon . My Mom puts too much in her mouth at one time and eats too fast .So I am thinking maybe a tiny spoon might help . dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I am sorry to hear of your testing positive for an expanded gene . that's the pitts . I wanted to mention that many in my family that would have had HD , lived long and relatively great lives , until their 70's and 80's and 90's . So I wish you well and continued strength to cope with your challenges . all my best. dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I think that with life changes this big , that it is only reasonable that a person would find it emotional . My family has recently placed my Mom in a care facility . Each of us , found it hard . My dear Dad found it heart wrenching . He personally has stated , that when the feelings of " not wanting Mom in the nursing home , arises ", he tries hard to not allow himself to replay thoseby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Are you doing this with the help of your DX. may I ask ? I think that is really important . I have seen friends do this by themselves , and it does not work well , in my opinion . I have seen them get so down, as well their thinking process is not as good . I feel 2 or 3 weeks in seems to be the worse . I have consistently suggested they go to their DX. and talk to that person and tell them whatby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I hope you are able to get some answers and your son might be able to get some meds that could help . all of that will take time , but , keep taking one day at a time ; and sometimes hour by hour at a time . My mom is 82 with HD . We did not notice any great movements other than a slight head nod , once in a while . My mom took economics at university in her early 70's and passed those classes . With my mom we did notice a mood disorder but even that was in-between periods when she was great and normal . My Grandmother lived until her mid 90's and she had HD . I have other relatives who did not showby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
