Well, they didn't identify which caspase but I would assume it's caspase 6 that they want to get at. It's the only one with evidence. I will be glad when someone gets their hands on the paper. Press releases are vague. Very interesting however. This has always looked like a hopeful deal. I think we might need to watch that phase one trial mentioned and hopefully it will be proven safe.

Got my hands on the paper!

Bucks Institute has three inhibitors that block caspase 3 and 6 both. They rescue HD mouse striatal and cortical cells from neurodegeneration. The next step is to try them in the HD mice.

There are a lot of steps between cell models and people and we won't know if one of these inhibitors will be an effective treatment until all the research is done, but we've been waiting for this and I think we have something to give thanks for today!
