I had depression before my gene positive test at 21. It could just be normal stress-induced depression. If you feel that the situation is stressful, that is enough in itself to cause depression.by kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center
We haven't heard from you in a while. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I hope you and your family are keeping well.by kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Truthfully it could be any number of things, but anger is an issue for some HD patients. Depression is normally one of the first signs, but that is too vague to diagnose on. A Dr will need to have test results in order to diagnose the starts ( like a MRI). It is very frustrating because the symptoms could be accounted for by other illness, but you never know. My uncle had his genetic test rby kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center
It this its fantastic that you are willing to put yourself out there for someone else. In this world we become so focused on our own we often don't realise that something is wrong until its too late. Good for you!!by kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I also wish that I had taken out life insurance before being tested. I was 21 when I tested gene positive. I'm now 33 and am medically boarded from work. I have a high IQ, but can't pour a cup of coffee without burning myself. You have come to the right place to vent. We know how you feel! What was the cause of death for your father? Family history is very important in this disease.by kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My father is normally very lucid, even though his balance is eating isn't that great. Normally he can quote facts and figures perfectly. Yesterday his wife phoned me and asked me to come over urgently. When I got there he was very shocked to see me. Apparently he says that I have been in a coma for six months. He says my husband had taken off work to sit with me as I died and that the fuby kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I've been recently medically boarded from work due to Huntington Disease. My medication was changed in the last six months to Brintelex which replaced my previous 2 medications. In the last six months my weight has increased from 54 kg to 64 kg. I don't fit into any of my clothes. I went to the GP about this and he couldn't give me anything because of the HD. He said I should ref this matteby kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center
This is the strange part - I have no problem with semi-raw eggs. If I mention that I can't eat chicken people assume I'm pregnant. It's can't be that because its been four years. lol.by kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I don't think that this has anything at all to do with Huntingtons, but I thought I would post it here if anyone has advice. I'm not a vegeterian, at all. I love meat. I'm from a country in Africa where we have literally the raw carcass of buck on the kitchen table to cut into strips to make biltong. But for about the last four years I have had difficulty cooking and eating chicken. Itby kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Yes, shows how much we still have to learn. It reminds me of the debate between butter and margarine, which is better for you? There is always some new information which changes everything.by kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My father ( with advancing HD) came to my little girls party and stayed for the entire party. I was so surprised that he made, because he is battling with incontinance. The children all made lots and lots of noise as they played and my father managed to stay through the whole thing. I am so proud of him. I know that it couldn't have been easy for him. But he did it for my daughter!!!! Myby kathleen - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Last night, while lying in bed trying to sleep, I had such chorea in my fingers and my toes. It felt so strange. I didn't sleep well because of it. I was strangely calm about the whole thing. With the hand twiches and now this last night, I feel like I know what the doctor is going to say. It's here. I have my appointment in May. When I read posts like this then I know why God made a small women instead of a hug strong man. I think I would seriuosly hurt someone. This is an article about my uncle. I was dismissed after 5 months of work. I have made a case against my employer because they didn't follow the correct procedure when firing me( i.e. no warnings or a disciplinary hearing.) I did work at my best at the job, but I also did make mistakes. At part of me is wondering if I am the one to blame for this. I was also dismissed from a similar position in Aug 2013. My uncle was in a nursing home and still somehow managed to bribe a nurse into buying alcohol for him!! It a very difficult battle to fight as alcoholism on it's own is overwhelming, and now with HD added to it. I feel so depressed today. My husband is out of town (will be back at the end of the week). I've just started a new job and haven't yet had a permanent contract as my three months probation also included a month over Christmas when the company was closed.
