Been lurking on this board for years, ever since we found out my husband is positive, but had to get a new username since I forgot the old one. Thanks to all of you for showing how to live with this diagnosis and thrive. Dusty, Barb, Marsha and Steve- I remember you guys the most.

Now I'm nearly 10 weeks pregnant the old fashioned way and doing CVS in 2 weeks. We waited for nearly a decade to even try, and decided to give it 2 tries naturally, and if that doesn't work to move on to IVF with PGD. My doc is supportive, as are my friends but we are still nervous wrecks during the waiting period. The nurse at my doc's office doesn't seem to get it, as she started to gave me info about the birthing center and cord blood banking, until I reminded her that I still don't even know if I'm going to keep this pregnancy. She looked shocked and I felt like a monster for saying that but we decided we are 100% not bringing any child with HD into this world. As my hubby says, "HD in this family ends with me".

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the results for CVS testing typically? My genetic counselor doesn't really know because she's only had 2 previous HD patients and can't remember how long it took with each of them (!). She says they were both negative and that's good for me, I said thanks but unfortunately all the magical thinking in the world doesn't change the odds.

It seems even the people who should know about this disease don't really get it at the end of the day. We just want a healthy child and are willing to go through so much so my husband can be the wonderful father he's destined to be, without worrying himself sick that he's given his child this disease.

Hi, I was told by our genetic counsel it would be about 3 wks, its nice to know someone has done the same as what we are trying to do we are still waiting to get pregnant, we also go with hd stops here within our family, my partner has hd movements seem a little worse but we are all only here once and have to do what we think best for us, and the good life we can give our child, we have only told my parents as we don,t want pressure of anybody knowing and given there thoughts. Our hd specialist was very encouraging and has been a great help. We have been given conflicting info about ivf with my partner already having signs of hd if we can get funding or not.
