WOW congratulations to all of you!by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
You really cannot know how you will react in the future. I can say that not all of us DO cope, I did not cope well at all. Everytime I looked at my husband I saw our 2 boys being sick. That along with demands he made on me and no one else, I could not cope and we ended up divorced. He is not end stage in a nh. So far our boys seem okay. Meds can help, I recommend it, and go easy on yourselfby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center

We made a couple moves to new homes and the first thing that went wrong he would say (and ALWAYS in front of friends) that the only reason we moved was because I wanted to, and he knew it was the wrong thing to do. Same for job changes, traffic jams (he followed MY directions and didn't want to).. it was even ALL my faulth when he couldn't ave sex anymore. All of it illogical and I eventually lby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Gee, and who decides what is unethical anyway? unethical does not mean illegal. I say whatever you are comfortable with, and it does no harm, it's ethical for you.by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I believe this IS the HD of yesteryear as I STILL know of people with HD, who have, stolen, raped, killed and molested children. I know people who refuse to take meds as they feel they don't need them. I know people who take meds and are still unstable. I know of a man who wanted to burn his house down with his wife and daughter in it. The only way we can say this isn't the HD of yesteryear iby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
excellant article and on a topic many people are reluctant to discuss. This has happened in our family also, and I think delusions are one of the most terrifying aspects of this disease! Patby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Such a WONDERFUL thing to hear,, I'm so very happy for all of you! Patby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I was never into tattoo's either, but I wanted a way to prove to my boys several years ago, that I truly believed they would be safe from HD. So I got one. I remember the tattoo artist asking me if it hurt, and it DID, but I said, not as much as thinking my kids could get HD!. I LOVE your tattoo!by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Your feelings are normal, and I believe if you stay, your feelings will be seen by both your husband and your children, therefore I think you should leave. My husband was also perfectly medicaidcated, however, we had very objectionable behavior, to me, behind closed doors, no one else could tell in any way shape or form. I didn't speak of it at the time as to not disrespect him. I have since sby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
OH my God, I can't tell you how sorry I am for this. Patby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I divorced my husband after several years also, but I waited till my kids were old enough to be on their own. Not sure if that was the right decision or not. I was afraid he'd get visitation and I also didn't want that. I hope all goes well with you, Patby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Trust what you read online about Haldol, there are other drugs that should be tried first. Haldol is contraindicated to HDby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My live in Phd, was fine, and then suddenly after dinner told us that I tried to kill him, poison him with dinner. I would NOT let your son be with him alone again, and I really don't think it was the drive. I also would not be around him myself if I were you.. You're right, there's no telling what he will do if he thinks you are threatening him. Be safe, most importantly keep your son safe.by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Keep an eye on those finances. I also had Joe (my ex) continue to do the finances so he was so good at it,( I also didn't want to take it away from him, as HD was already taking so much) then I found an electric bill that was 3 months behine and discovered our mortgage was a month behind. I had to get tough with him and just take it, call my parenets for a $2,000 loan to get things caught up.by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I would have him do a memory test also. I'm not real excited about neuro psych tests, they never seem to do testing that are HD appropriate. A lot of our Phd's are really "with it" for testing, but real life experiences is a different story. I would try for supervised visits with an uninterested party court appointed and see how that goes. Patby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Some "experts" in HD don't even believe that trauma can bring on the symptoms early. Some Dr's are just Dingledorfs, ( a made up word, my grandson and I made up so no one would know what we are talking about) You need to keep looking for a more reasonable Dr and it doesn't have to be one from a Center of so called Excellance. You may have neurologists nearby that specialise in movemeby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
OMG, what WONDERFUL news for your whole family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such exciting news!by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Could you tell us where you live? Many nursing homes will take people with HD, and also some Adult Day Care centers will take our loved ones also. We might be able to help you more if we knew where he lived. Patby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
