"HDSA wanted to focus on family support" ....... and how's THAT working for us all?by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
katierae13 Wrote: "If people knew that their child was going to get cancer, would you expect them to not have a kid? " This is such an unfair question. People who have cancer do not run the 50/50 risk of their child having the same cancer. My husband is at risk for breast cancer, but it is NOT 50/50 at all and there is treatment and cures for this disease.. NONE for HD. We did noby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Howard, so sorry to hear about the seizures, but glad to know you are both happy with her back at home. Many more happy years for you both!by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Howard, I'm so glad your daughter is thriving under your care, however I am extremely sad to hear this news about her NH. Isn't it Laurel Lakes and the program Jimmy started? If so this must be killing him, I really feel horrible that it's gone done the tubes so much. Tell your daughter Steve and I said HI, we met her several years back during a tour with Jimmy. Ask her how she enjoyed being raised by a mother with HD. It can be okay, and it also can be torture and murderous literally! Another reason they may not test, especially if they are showing some very early symptoms, is poor decision making. Patby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I have to add this to the mix. IMHO and in my experience, with knowing SOOOOO many HD families, when people say "I will test if I show symptoms" well, don't count on it. If you are already showing symptoms, and I assume they mean movements, you're decision making is NOT going to be the way it was when you were healthy. Same goes for medications. SOME Phd's refuse medicationby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I take neurotin for Trigeminal Neuralgia.. I'm not a Phd. I get severe to mild stabbing electrical shocks also under the skin, even a slight breeze can get a slight scream out of me, it's normally in the head. Forehead, scalp, eye, cheek, down the trigeminal nerve. I would think Phd's could also get this. I do not seem to have any side effects from this medication.by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Does he still drive? Can he get himself around without you? I would NOT drive with him in the car anymore for one thing. Here's what I ask people to think about. When your Phd was healthy, what would he want to happen? Would he want you to walk on eggshells? Would he want his kids to see him like this and live in fear? DO what he would want you to do when he had logical thinking. It is posby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Have you talked to your fiance about it? I'm in the minority and I do believe your fiance has a right to know. Anyone you choose to legally share a life with, own property with, invest money with, have children with, I believe morally has the right to know. (my 2 adult sons, choose to not test. I try to not influence them. One has a fiance and they do not want children as she also has posibleby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
HI and welcome back MoreThanPosGuy!!!! I LIKE your attitude!!by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
For my former husband viagara did not help either, he has HD. Also his choking symptoms could be HD, however I have gerd and the same thing happens, there is medication that can help, and it has helped me tremendously. My former husband also lost all interest in socializing or even leaving the house. He COULD feel uncomfortable about eating in public tho too. I vote for an HD test to help wiby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center

This is horrendous, I'm so very sorry this has happened to your daughters friends. I know they have arrested 2 women so far, but still haven't found the guy and the 2 daughter. Hug you kids for me and tell them I'm so sorryby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My stepson was in the position of having zero health benefits and needed zyprexa and Prozac. Search online for the companies phone numbers or email and they may provide you with either free or very low cost meds. Call her doctors to see if they have samples. SKMF12, I really like your idea, I just want to point out something. I was an aide in a couple different school, classrom, study hall, playground and lunch room. When you watching as many kids at one time that I did, it's difficult to see the FIRST move and we usually only see the SECOND move. Therefore, understand that the true culprit isn't always caught in the act, but the person protectingby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I Loved hearing you say that every thought your husband is just a jackass and unreasonable. I had a first marriage who turned out to be a pathological liar... divorced him, later met my (unknown) Phd ex husband, Joe.. with his behaivors (and some of my fathers) I thought ALL men were like this and I guess I wasn't going to do any better. THEN I found out Joe had HD! Later I met Steve, THAby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
If in his delusions he thinks someone is trying to poison him, then everyone including him is in danger...(or any other delusions that could be interpreted as dangerous) Call the police and they will call an ambulance to take him to a mental ward. They symptoms subsided after he got on zyprexa and prozac. They will not go away without meds. However at 23 he's still paranoid and cannot hold a job due to it. this will not go away without meds!by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I vote for HD. My stepson, age23 now, started with delusions in high school. Pretty significant delusions. Once he thought he was working for the CIA, this is when he was about 15! He drew us a picture of a plane, similar to the stealth bomber only "BETTER". He thought he ran over someone when he first started driving. He told us he earned a Plaque that was haning on the wall at hby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Maybe you could all wear a pin or a sign that you are from HDAC??? I've met so many wonderful people there, it would be a shame to miss the chance to put a face to the people you all chat with here!by mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
She threatened your daughter in FRONT of guidance councelors???????? I'd say it's time to tell the school they have HAD their last chance and to consider thos guidance councelors witnesses when you call the police. ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!!!!! I'd call the police myself, The school has dragged their feet long enough. Ask them what happened to zero tolerance! Call the policeby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My husband is a paramedic and many years ago, he had to go on a call to a home with 3 elderly woman, 2 at which he considered had different stages of HD. His wife at the time and family members had HD so he was very familiar with it. He wanted to go back on his own time, as the woman with no symptoms told him it was something else, and they do not see a doctor for it, that they just live with iby mrspatwolf - Huntington's Disease Support Center
