My dear mother passed away last night. She is missed already. Virginia Irene Ericson age 73. 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren. Joins her loving sister Elsie who left us 3 months ago (pHD also).by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Diagnosed probably 4 years ago. Was walking well until 1 yr ago. Seems her loss of balance really happened quick. Many falls over past few months.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My aunt Elsie passed away this morning. Acquired pneumonia after cracking a few ribs from one of her falls. 71 years old, CAG 40. Enjoyed a cruise 3 months ago with all her kids and 8 grand kids. She will be missed.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi. I wanted to make you aware of a "lady bird" deed (although this can be state-specific) as a way of preserving the proceeds of your MILs condo. A good estate attorney can draw one up for $500 but has to be executed before the death of the owner. Just something you should check out. My mom is 70 yrs old in a nursing home with advanced HD.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thanks for your advice friends. Barb, it was good to hear from you! Hope all is well with you. I think I may start counseling to sort through my thoughts about testing/working etc. The good news is I do have a supportive family, LTC Insurance and many other blessings in life.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I am a 50 year old at-risk female currently working in a professional career. I believe I am showing some "softer" signs of HD with my memory, concentration, and multi-tasking ability decreasing. My employer does not know of my at-risk status (some of my closer co-workers do). If I do have HD, these problems will obviously get worse and I fear the days of embarrassing myself, lettingby juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Your doctor knows your sibs died from HD and is making you feel like it is in your head?by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My Mom really does not have much chorea, never did and she is in later stage (nursing home, can't walk or sit herself up). It seemed like she was always off balance though. My mom has also never, ever, been mean.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I am at risk and my friends who are not all have these myoclonis movements at different times and they sometimes just go away.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I am 49 yr old At-Risk and I do that, I am afraid that it probably is a symptom. My HD Mom never does/did it though.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Josh, sorry for the loss of your grandmother and the realization of Huntington's disease in your life. I am about the same age as your Mom (49). I am untested. My mom is in late stages in a nursing home (71 years old). I have 2 daughters, 18 and 16. When my mom was diagnosed about 6 or 7 years ago, we all were in a black cloud. It does get better after some time. My oldest is a freshman aby juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center

mikee - My grandmother died at 84 with huntingtons. She was dancing the week before (she was symtomatic although we did not know it was HD until my mom was diagnosed with CAG 42). Low CAG could very well lead to long/good life. My grandmother died of a stroke.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thanks everyone. Your replys mean alot to me. I'm hangin in there.by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Feeling down. My Mom continues to decline, the NH is depressing. I (at risk and 48 years old) am feeling symptomatic lately (memory, concentration). Anyone have any hopeful words re: research etc.?by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center

There is research out there indicating that Lithium may be moving into clinical trials for Parkinson's (keeps proteins from accumulating) and may be neuroprotective for HD too. I was wondering if anyone knows a person with bipolar being treated with Lithium and also has HD...by juliew - Huntington's Disease Support Center
