Hi Tracie My mum was diagnosed at 40yrs with a CAG 42 but showed some classic HD behaviour before that. I inherited the gene and my CAG is 43 and at 51 yrs I only have a few soft symptoms, she was in a NH at my age where I am lucky enough to still be leading as normal a life as PHD can. I have 2 brothers who both tested negative. Have a great birthday next week. I hope this helps.by DLM056 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thanks Barb & Julie Her name is Felicity Jane and she is beautiful (there again I could be bias you think?) the only downside is they live in West Aust (over 3200 kms or 2000 miles away) so we are long distance grandparents that can be hard in allot of ways. Hi Michelle 7.30 pm sounds good to me just let me know what day (so I can get my wife to pull rank on my daughter so I can use the pc?hehe). We were told the same as your mum about there being help of some kind in 5 yrs, but there is allot more known now and with luck they will find at least a better treatment before too long. Hi Michelle I think I have been very lucky to test positive and at 50 have no noticeable symptoms. I work as a Project Planner and I am sure this type of work keeps my brain in good condition with lots of multi tasking as well as demanding managers. I love my job but not necessarily the 50 kms drive to and from work each day. My sons are 27, 25, 23 and my daughter is 21 (now I feel olby DLM056 - Huntington's Disease Support Center

My mum was diagnosed when she was in her early 40?s and she finally passed away at 69 just over 2 years ago. I remember taking my mom to Lottie Steward twice a year for respite care and she used to love the way the staff treated her like royalty. Hi Julie I agree with Fred he speaks from great experience and as for what treatments might be like for you daughter IF your husband is positive well all you can do is look at the great progress we have made over the last 20 yrs and we can only guess the leaps they will make in the future. Try not to overload yourself with worry until you get the results and you will surprise yourself with the aby DLM056 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi Julie Yes I did go through Westmead when I did my testing and they were great as I am sure the Nepean people will be too. My wife and eldest son are RN?s at Nepean, wife in the cardiac dept and son in the male surgical ward, but I never knew there was testing there? We had 2 kids before my mom was diagnosed and decided to have the others like we had always planned. Having kids like testingby DLM056 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi Julie My name is Dave and I also live in Sydney, Australia. I am 50 years old married with 4 kids and tested positive in late 2002 (CAG 43). I inherited my gene from my mom who sadly lost her fight with HD 2 years ago at 69 her CAG was 42. The small positive in our family is HD tends to be later onset compared to most, mom was diagnosed in her mid 40?s and I have no symptoms yet and I am sby DLM056 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
