Dear JL : How old exactly was your dad when he started to show signs ? What were the signs at such a late onset . do you think it is really possible for say my dad who has shown 0 signs and is 77 to test positive to HD . I mean I would think I would notice something was not right . To be honest it would be a bit much for me if dad had it too . He offered to be tested a month ago I just thought iby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Jayne : Something I have learned over the years that I Have been married ' 31' is approach sensitive subjects when things are calm and you and your mate have been having a good day . Practice in your mind the best way to say the subject . There are very few things that can not be said this way . Above all else remember even if he seems like he is not interested in pursuing the subject ;he goby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Dear Steve : Thank You , I can see you have given a lot of attention to your day to day diet . I am afraid I try really hard at times but at other times it seems to much work . I have had low hemoglobin and ferritin for quite a few years now . It has zapped my initiative and energy . When I have had a iron infusion and my blood work looks better I find it easier to concentrate on a healthy dietby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Dear Steve On one of your posts you stated "if you have a diet high in oat fiber ,low starch , low sugar , high fluids ,high omega3 and fish oil that would be a health worthy diet . I was curious what your daily diet consisted of ? also how long have you been following your eating plan ? What have been the noticeable results ? Why the low starch ? Thanking You in advance . dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Dusty : I do not know what to say . Your life seems complicated . I suppose you are so used to it you don't even realize that . I am inspired by your perseverance at making adjustments in your life to accommodate your HD symptoms . That is how I would like to guide my life if I had /have ? HD . I do realize some with HD can not muster the mental strength to make them selves do things . Myby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Dear Aud : I enjoyed your post . I think that is a great idea . I could see it could put you in a happy state at the very beginning of the day . I read something positive for a few minutes first thing in the morning . I find that helpful . Your music and dancing would be great exercise like you said and help put you in a good frame of mind . Thanks for the idea . All my best . dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Dusty are you French Canadian descent on your moms side ? My mom has Acadian french from her moms side . But I think the HD came 100years ago when one of her great ,great grandfathers on her mothers side married into my fathers extended family . My dad and mom had no idea that they were related way back in the family . I think originally the HD came from dads family along time ago .by db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Alice and Stacy : reading other peoples posts stating how they missed hearing their loved ones voice after they died shows me how this must be a common emotion . Thanks for sharing your life with me I do find it very helpful . I am hoping moms voice will not go completely but there is no assurances of that . So I am definitely going to get a video of her and dad talking . That is a good ideaby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Dusty : I am sorry to hear about your sister . Your sister was in Montreal helping set up an HD research unit ,what year was that ? How did she get involved with that ? Dear Dustyblues : I love that name ." Dustyblues " it should be a title for a country song or maybe a blues song with lots of horns in the background . It could go like this ; I got the dustyblues from this old , miserable disease .Can,t put my head down with out not feeling right .....etc. etc . etc . Dear Kats I forgot to say I am sorry to hear about your Dad . Death is an enemy , just like HD . All my best . dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Kats : Thanks for the idea I am going to do that ;make a video . My son has a machine I'll get him to do that . I have been getting mom to tell me all of her stories about growing up . I write them down for me . Little things like how she liked to take their family cow out to the pasture and her brother hated the chore . So mom would volunteer to take the cow out to the pasture for him . Aby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Kats it is the only thing I can not deal with . My moms voice . Lately even when I talk on the phone I find it so hard . I just want her to talk and talk and talk . I don't want that to stop . I get scared that each time she talks it will be that much closer to when she stops . I get melancholy when she talks . Maybe I will feel better saying this out loud . Dear Mark , Marsha , Eric : Monday afternoon : I tried some of Marsha's wording . I tried Mark's idea about a regular routine for cutting moms toenails . We are going to set up a regular app. for someone to come to the house each month . Even if she does not like the person we are just going to do it . We are not letting this person move to Florida or where ever; like her last podiatrist did . Erby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Mark and Marsha : Mark you have a very devious mind . I like that but lack the energy to pull off the caper . But you had me thinking . Mom hasn't phoned back; yet. Dear Alice : You stated " But I don't think we are all bad . Unfortunately it looks like no one can predict how it will be for an individual , which is sad itself." Dear Just Me : I can trace the HD back to around 1760,s on my fathers side of the family they were all from Scotland . My mothers family intercepted that same family in the late 1890s . Do you think that more likely an area like a province or state would have higher counts of a particular descent because they that nationality settled in that area ? dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
