I've created this new thread so that everyone can trash each other's opinions here. Here we can show total disrespect for each other's opions and act like children to our hearts content. Here we can focus on our single issues and not give consideration to anything else. We can vent our irrational hate of the other party, their leaders and anyone who has voted for a member of the party. Alby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I believe the warning is to avoid excessive iron, not iron needed to get your blood work back to normal. If your iron level is low then you certainly want to get it back to normal. Steveby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I've upped the level of authorization required to post to the site. My hope is that the bottom feeding slugs won't go to too much effort to abuse the site. We'll see. I really hate making it more difficult for visitors who need help to post messages. Steveby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Polly, there are large variations in a person's ability to cope with HD. They can be proactive and do everything they can to fight the disease. They can be hopeful and do those things that are easy to do. They can be guided by those who care. They can be in denial and do those things that are not in their best interest. Except for the last, it is often helpful to set boundaries ofby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Screwed up biorythms are pretty typical. My wife was never on ANY medication but slept through the morning and stayed up pretty late at night. However, depression and medications can contribute to the problem also. Steve Irelandby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
As far as I know it has only recently been available to the general public, and that's thanks to the efforts of LaVonne. I placed an order this weekend. Steveby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center

So essential there are "two" cures we're looking for. One that essentially stops the damage caused by the defected gene and the other is to stop the defective gene from developing. It seems that the cure for the second is already available and is essentially "selective child bearing". Steveby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I may have missed a few pages, but I believe all of the "new" site pages have been put back in place. This should include everything that's been posted since mid-2001. The older pages will be recovered as I have an opportunity to review them for potential trojans before republishing them. However, you can influence which pages you'd like to see recovered first by letting me know whby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I think "merge the sites" means different things to different people. From my perspective they were "merged" when Marsha and I took ownership of HDL. We don't have different opinions of what's acceptable for each site. We have one opinion that applies to both sites. They were hosted on different ISPs. Now they are going to be hosted by the same ISP and that will makeby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
HDAC + HDL = HDACHDL or (rearranging the letters) HHDDLAC or (dropping redundant letters) HDLAC but that sounds too much like AFLAC and that duck annoys me :-)by stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I don't know this for a fact, but it's my opinion that excessive drinking causes trauma to the brain and since we have some reports that trauma to the brain accelerates or at least activates the progression of HD, I believe that heavy drinking is risky from the perspective of HD. But I'm convinced that a glass of wine (or 2) helps me through stressful periods such as Web site crashes or a badby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
*#@#!^!! *#!!^!! Okay, I've vented now but I'm still pissed. The HDLighthouse was taken down today as a result of damage done by a hacker. I must admit I don't have a lot of experience with these low-life pond-scum sucking pretenders to humanity - but I'm apparently going to learn. I'm moving HDL to a new ISP where I can talk to a person who cares about the sites that they host and theby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
For no particular reason other than I'm scared of threads that reach 69 posts long I think I'm going to draw an end to this thread. If you wish to continue this discussion in a new thread you are welcome to reference this thread. Thanks, Steve Irelandby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center

That's okay....I'm forbidden too. <g> I've been advised that the ISP technicians are working on the problem. Steveby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Will there be a treatment within our lifetime? Yes. After my visit with Marsha to the conference hosted by the American Society for Experimental NeuroTherapeutics I'm even more excited about the progress that is being made. The only thing that can slow down the progress would be loss of funding and support for research and clinical trials. We can't let that happen...never. "Individuals with a CAG repeat size of 30 to 35 do not manifest HD themselves; however, there is a small risk that offspring may develop HD due to further CAG expansion, especially in paternal transmissions." The above was from: (http://path.upmc.edu/cases/case358/dx.html) Assuming the above information is still valid, then the "at risk" status of the daughter isn't whaby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Annie, I may not have tracked all of the prior discussions on this. Who classified your older brother's daughter as being at risk and why?by stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Like Rowan I'm not at risk either, but various parts of my body start "twitching" when I'm either anxious about something or not getting enough sleep. I'd trust your neurologist on this. Twitching isn't a reliable indicator of HD. If he's not seeing anything more than twitching then of course he's going to tell you you're fine. And you are. You can test positive for HD and still beby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I think the maximimum dosage can only be determined through trial and error with the physician. Sometimes the maximum dosage isn't necessarily the most effective dosage. Interesting. I haven't played with this feature, but you can go to your user profile, select Forum Settings and set the Timezone in which you reside. I'm not sure what effect that will have or if it would be worth the effort, but it's there to play with. Steveby stevei - Huntington's Disease Support Center
