I tried to send you a pm, but this is the response I got: "the data that you have submitted to the server have been rejected, because it looks like they were posted by an automated bot." I know one in Maryland if your son is close to there. It seems you will have to pm me if you wanted the name of that one.by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I looked up teaching hospitals in the area that had neurological sections. Most had a specific section that addresses HD. I contacted them about testing and one was even fine about testing anonymously. There was one meeting that consisted of a neuro exam/physical exam and counceling back-to-back. In the second meeting, I got my results.by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi everyone! I have a question about congestion. My mom (CAG 44 mid-stage) has horrible congestion. It's to the point that I think she has pneumonia every morning with how bad she coughs and how raspy her voice is. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a normal part of HD? Her doctor just says to let her cough until she gets it all up, but I know she's really uncomfortable. It's been goingby mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Good luck! Hoping for a negative result!by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
When I tested anonymously it cost me a little less than $600. But I think that was because it was only one counceling session.by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
It's supposed to help stop some of the movements and help with balance. My mom sways really bad when walking so the doctor just prescribed it. If anyone knows any other benefits from the drug, I'd love to hear them.by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Does anyone know of a good generic version of Xenazine? The drug name is tetrabenazine. Right now the pharmacy wants $1200 for a thirty day supply but it's online for $95 for a fifty day supply from Canada. Can I order from Canada?by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Digging.deep- have you thought about egg donation if you can't get the percentages you want for a hd free child? I thought about egg donation from a close friend before getting tested. It's just another option. But if you can get 99% sure that your child won't develop hd, that would be wonderful. Congrats on getting ready to start a family!by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
When the gene passes from a parent to a child, the gene can expand or contract. This happens more often for fathers passing the gene to their children. Technically a parent can pass a contracted gene to their child and the child ends up with a lower cag number (perhaps even in the grey region where an individual may not live long enough to have symptoms of the gene). Then that child could pass onby mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hello Katie, I'm very sorry about your father's diagnosis. You were in no way "rambling." Everyone here is in a very similar situation to yourself and are great for support. I recently found this forum myself. I'm 24 years old and have one brother (at risk). I knew about my mom's test results for a few years before I decided to get tested. I was also falsely told by my family that Iby mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi my name is Mae. I'm 24 years old with one younger brother (at risk). My mom is hd+. I was just tested and found out I'm negative... waiting for it to sink in still. I needed to know so I could take steps to not pass this on to my children if I could. I have an aunt and two cousins at risk. Hoping for a cure soon.by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Perhaps your husband could test anonymously? I have a ts clearance working with the government and didn't want it on my medical record. I paid 500 out of pocket to get tested without insurance so I wouldn't have to worry. When I was asked about my parents' health for my clearance, I just told them my mom was sick and didn't go into details.by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Sorry it took eight months for the answer but yes. I do. My mother is bipolar (from her mom) and has huntingtons from her dad. My mom is on another bipolar medication similar to lithium and hasn't gotten worse over the past four years. The neurologist says she has no symptoms for huntingtons yet and all of her symptoms are from being bipolar, but at least she hasn't gotten worse!by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hello everyone, I'm getting tested soon for Huntington's. My grandfather had symptoms starting around 78. My mom is 51 and doesn't have symptoms. What age should I expect to have symptoms? I've read articles that it's solely repented on the cag count (44) and others saying you get it approximately the same age as your parent/family. What's the truth?by mae88 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
