If a man has HD and passes it to his son, is the son's CAG count likely to be the same or higher than the dad's? Is it often lower?

It can tend to increase when passed from male to male. But not always... smiling smiley My dad's was 44 and mine is 45, so there was an increase, but only slight.

My understanding is that there can be expansions or contractions when the gene is passed down from either the father or the mother but statistically expansions are more prevalent when passed down from the father. percentages were posted here once - I'll try to find them...
