Hi

As I'm still new to the site I apologise if this has already been discussed, but I came across this article today that looked quite interesting.

We haven't discussed this yet, Kathy, and it is interesting!

What do you make of this Marsha? Is this coming from left field?

No, it's not coming out of left field. Elena Cattaneo and colleagues identified XIAP as a therapeutic target in Huntington's Disease three years ago. And it sounds like they have some promising preclinical data. My concerns with anti-apoptotic drugs (or in this case gene therapy) are that apoptosis might not be an effective target and that even if it is, it might result in an increased risk in cancer. Remember that the body attempts to kill off cancerous cells through apoptosis.
