irritated at McCain

I live in Delaware and we are very aware of Biden's bad hair. He had hair transplants some years back to cover his growing baldness. Oh well, better than a comb over or as Dave Barry puts it "one long sideburn from hell." And as for his childcare arrangements, we'll all well aware of those too. For years, those of us who happened to be in the train station after work would see him coming home to be with his kids. It was about six years before he remarried after his first wife and daughter were killed in a car accident and he was diligent about coming home ever night to be with the boys.

Obama and Biden are bad for America and do not understand the markets, personal responsiblity, liberty, property rights. I once heard a socialist who was an economics professor, so Eric, I am not impressed. Leaders of some of the most oppressive countries come from our Ivy League schools.

Just last week, I heard Obama and Biden talking about tax increases. Obama said transferring wealth was "neighborliness." Pardon me, but that is stupid for an economics professor to say. Biden used a similar term. Palin understood that money belongs to the citizens of her state. Out of neighborliness, Eric, I want to forcibly take your money.

I appreciate Biden's dedication to his family. That does not make him a good legislator. He is well known for being a big spender and weak on national defense. Democrats think he is good on foreign policy. Is he the one who said that Iraq should be broken into three regions? He opposed the anti-satellite defense programs that are useful today--weak vision of our future risks.

Sorry. Your effort to compare Rev. Hagee and McCain with Obama and Rev. Wright is bogus. McCain was not a member of Rev. Hagee's church, did not contribute $20,000 to his church or attend it for 20 years, or call him his spiritual advisor (as Obama did Rev. Wright).

You know what has happened to the Republican party. Too many of them act like Democrats, RINOs--Republicans in Name Only. Since you like big government, you should be delighted at the change. As amazing as spending has been to you, Obama promises a lot more.

You got it wrong about forcing values. It is the other way around. Republicans tend to appoint judges that interpret the Constitution based on its original intent. Democrats euphemistically call it a living document and legislate from the Supreme Court--like when they recently ruled that eminent domain means that the govt. can take your property for a shopping center. You know it is baloney to say that an administration does whatever it likes. None does. You need to read up on the history of the current mortgage crisis. Read about govt. forced social programs that forced financial insitutions to make risky loans. Read about how McCain (in 2005, I believe) warned Congress and how Democrats blocked reform.

Eric's comment that Palin is anti-HD is ludicrous--he can do better than that. Sorry, Obama is inexperienced and Hillary and Biden have both said it. You support them, don't you? If Obama has accomplished anything, please tell me what he has done--no major legislation. Did you remember me saying that in his 140 days in the Senate he managed to collect the 2nd largest contribution from Freddie Mac? That is real experience, isn't it? Maybe as a hockey mom Palin understands real family issues and special needs children. I will take that any day over some politician who is out of touch with America and has spent his life on Capitol Hill. McCain was my least desirable Republican candidate--too much like a Democrat. I had actually written to him telling that I would never vote for him and now I have to eat crow and vote for him because the Democrats nominated a loser Socialist and radical.

Palin by extension is anti-HD? NO WAY!!

I find this very very hard to believe. Ecspecially when this paticular candidate has made many proclamations advocating for the awareness of many different types of diseases or health-realted issues including nuerodegenerative diseases. IN this month of September alone, Mrs. Palin has proclaimed at least 3 disease or health related awareness days. (again- this month alone)! I'm sure you can imagine how many more there are over the years. Not only that but Mrs. Palin a former (Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission) approved an Additional Increase for alll Assisted living homes... just another thing to point out how hard it is to believe that she would be anti-hd, i guess maybe by extension. By the way in case some of you didn't know she resigned from being the Ethics commissioner to expose a hefty amount of corruption against members of her OWN party.
I think it's irresponsible to regard someone as anti-hd or anti-any disease for that matter, ecspecially when they deal with disease every single day of their life, much like you and me.

Either way which ever candidates win there is going to be change, but I'm really hoping for McCain/Palin... eric said something about hating to have a single issue decide who you vote for (which i would agree with), but i guess i did decide on a single issue. And that single issue is Palin being a Hockey mom... im sick of baseball being the USA's national pastime.. and if McCain/Palin wins... it's the closest im gonna get to having Hockey be the national pastime... HAHAHA. GOOOO W'LOO BLACKHAWKS!!!

I see we are doing the same here as the "Talking Heads" on TV, spreading rumors without much substance,so lets give everyone the nod to use their god given Brain. Come Election Day hopefully we will all show up at the Polls and make the decision that really matters.get out there and Vote. Then we can come back here and excersise our right to verbally kick the crap out of everyone who voted Wrong, versus we who voted correctly.Whistling smiley

Ron. I think that rumors have been duly challenged on this site.

Usually the person who unfairly repeated that rumor has "given it up" when justly challenged. At least I did.....

I disagree totally with not discussing the issues until the election - voting - and then griping when the person you voted for turns out to be a bomb.

Whatever happened to the idea of arguing all of the pertinent issues PRIOR to the election (in proud, democratic, American fashion) - and making an INFORMED choice?

Like a friend of mine always says, "Unless you vote - and make every effort to make an informed vote - you've given up your RIGHT to gripe!"

On what basis do you advocate griping REACTIVELY rather than PROACTIVELY? That seems to be rather ineffective to me.

I personally found the posts on this thread to be useful and informative (for the most part).

Where I find dicussions with anyone to have become less than useful, because of their groundlessness, repetitiveness, and dogged inflexibility - then I'll just cut that person off.

I love to argue the issues. But there are limits. When a particular argument has reached the point where I consider the possibility of ever reaching an agreement on ANYTHING is probably impossible - then I'll cut it off.

What's the point? I prefer to argue the issues with people who are able to see both sides. I consider that to be a lot more productive.

That said - if Ron c. or Dave - or anyone else - would like to carry on this discussion - I invite them to send me a PM.

I'd just as soon not dominate this site, anymore - ESPECIALLY SINCE I THINK OUR TIME AND EFFORTS WOULD BE BETTER SPENT WISHING STEVE AND MARSHA A JOYOUS LIFE!

I can understand that. I threatened to emigrate to Australia, when Bush was voted for a second term. smiling smiley

That of course was just an empty threat. They'll have to drag me outta my beloved Pacific NW feet-first!

I just pray we get the leadership that will lead this country in the right direction and make it much better than it has been lately.

Personally, I think I need to vote for the lessor of two evils. I have never felt this way before.

Due to many of Obama's associatons and things he has done he scares the daylights out of me.

I am not overly fond of McCain either.

I actually wish we had a 3rd candidate who was better than the two we have!!

Shar. Agree with you....and I'd love for voters to throw out ALL incumbents who have been in office over 12 yrs. (dreaming--won't happen). We keep voting them back in and they think they are entitled to the job--and become corrupt.

Dave: Does that apply to McCain? He's been there 2-times 12 years.

Hey it might be more of a race if it was between Biden and Palin - Forget Obama and McCain. Most of me thinks more of Palin and Biden than
I do of Obama and McCain but I guess it is all politics.

I just say may the best man and/or woman win!!

I think Biden and Palin are scheduled to have a debate - just as Obama and McCain are. I'm looking forward to both......

I do care what party. I want term limits 12 yrs and out. I would have no problem if McCain had been subject to 12 yrs term limits--as well as Joe Biden, Robert Byrd, John Warner, Ted Kennedy, Kay Bailey Hutchinson--the list goes on. It is shameful how guys like Robert Byrd and Strom Thurmond try to stay on even when they have to be propped up in a wheelchair. These guys and gals lose touch with America and care more about their careers.

Good heavens! I thought Strom Thurmond was dead! You mean they're STILL propping him up in his chair?

You're right - this has to stop! smiling smiley
