Testing

My wife's mother suffered from HD and now her brother has tested positive. We have talked about my wife being tested. Can anyone tell me what is involved, who does it, etc. Also, she is concerned about any repercussions later on if she is tested, for example, being denied insurance, etc. Is it possible to be tested without putting through our medical insurance.

I have a similiar question as you. Have you found an answer?

Hi,

If you want confidentiality test without your insurance and pay out of your pocket. It is recommended that pre-counseling take place before you test. Get all the insurances you need (life, long term disability) before you test otherwise you could lose very much, as insurance companies won't pick you up with this one. If you don't have much to lose though, than it may be a different situation. greg
