Does anyone watch this show? If you don't and you are able to watch it tonight, please do. A young woman on the show wants to have a baby, but is scared to tell her husband that HD runs in her family. She tests on the show. It is great to see more shows with HD being mentioned!

I was just signing on to let everyone know about the show as well, I was so impressed with how they protrayed the at risk wife, and what she was dealing w/. Then how the genetic doctor stated to her "a person should get the right to live a full life....." Then I believe my favorite statement just from dealing w/having a baby during my testing process was when the husband says, after they decide to have a baby and discussing the ramifications w/the doctors he says "if every one who had the hd gene didnt hve a baby, I wouldnt have Angie"
I know there are alot of care givers out there who feel that same way,
I am so glad to see HD hitting Prime Time more, and on a new show!!!!
Great Job aBC

Haven't gotten through the whole episode but already they've done too many things wrong... no genetic counseling, getting the results immediately.

But it's great that it's on TV, for sure.

What were her test results?

I love that show and I'm really disappointed in the writers. With a fertility specialist & "the best obstetrical surgeon in the world" on staff, one of those doctors would have known about PGD. They should have written it in. At least they could have presented it to Angie as an option.

It would be terrific to see them do a follow up episode where Angie is now a fertility patient undergoing PGD. It could be very interesting to the audience because there is much fear, disappointment and nervousness involved with IVF/PGD. It would also be very educational for anyone with a single gene disorder who may be considering having a family.

I still am real glad they did the show. They protrayed the person at risk well---scared and running then pulling in the solidarity of her marriage at the end. Since the show is only an hour long and a small percentage of the world even knowing of HD, I believe adding in genetic counsoling, CAG counts, alternative options, etc etc May have been a little much for the world to swallow in less than 60 min. I believe the show helpped to bring HD closer to people knowing of the disease, from there I beleive its our job to fill in the gaps for our friends and loved ones.

I'm with most of you though...the only thing that disappointed me was no information about PGD. Maybe next week they will have them on again and discuss it.

I just watched the show, it was good to HD mentioned too bad they didn't say the word enough though. And it is a pefect story line that could happen all year.

So, abc has a blog for the show, maybe we should bombard the blog with story line ideas, or notes of thanks. Not sure if anyone would listen but it is possible.
There already are some posts about HD on the message board.

I should have read this post before i posted my own! Sorry...
Anyway, a close friend of mine said she cried the entire episode. I feel like she "got it"... as far as some of the struggles of Hd.

I have to add, to purplegals comment-- friend of mine called-{ who never knew of HD until me--she has been to several of my fund raiseres over the pst few years, and I just this past summer told her my gene status} she was amazed, and very Glad to see it --her comment to me was "did you see Private Practice, I learned so much" My thoughts went back to what I have read - and how we, dealing w/hd want it protrayed, but hearing my friend say "I get it" from a TV show at the very least let her know what our family is dealing w/and opened up a bit more conversation.

I love that show. Followed it since the beginning. While I am happy that it was mentioned, especially on Prime Time, I was extremely disappointed in the hows and the what was left outs.

Proud daughter of HD mom, proud mother of 3 at risk and proud step mom of 5 one of which is US Army

I never watch that show but my best friend called me and insisted I watch it. I too feel a lot was left out about the particulars of the disease but in the end the message was great!

I watched the episode last week. Over all I'm happy that attention is being brought to HD but disappointed that they misrepresented the process for actually getting tested. I tested negative about a 1 1/2 ago and had to go through psychological tested prior to getting tested, had to wait a couple of months before actually drawing the labs and had to wait at least a month after the labs were ran to actually get the results. I hope the episode enlightens people to the disease, hopefully they will continue the story line.

I thank you for telling me I started to watch and wasn't sure if I was up to the show emotionally. Depression kind of rough...
