We had a new comer come to our support group on sunday. She ask if she is 65 and shows no symptoms, could she still carry the hd gene? we told her most likely no , but i would ask around to find out. Can anyone answer this? Her 42 year old son is asking because he is having speech problems, and is scared. He wants her to be tested to se if he is a carrier. So if she is not showing any signs what so ever could she be a carrier? Her mom and sister died with hd. Thanks

HI DB!!! My FIL wasn't diagnosed until he was 70...we thought he was clumsy but other than that weren't really aware of any other symptoms, but of course we had NEVER heard of HD until the DX... He had hip replacement surgery and the nurses noticed he had trouble swallowing and suggested he see Neuro.... Maybe she should consider testing for peace of mind for herself and her son... Pat
