this story is such an inspiration to me....I am so happy that your dad loved your mom right up till the end...so many times as in my case, HD completly tares a couple apart....I am so happy for the memories you have of them. Lizby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Dear pioneer, everytime I see someone new come on here I am very sad. sad that yet someone else is having to go thru this. It is Wednesday night and NOTHING HAS CHANGED. he had a pretty big episode last night to where he got mad cause Dalton was trying to fix the dish tv and Donnie thought he had torn it up. he ranted and raved half the night. finally Dalton got everything working again. heby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dear Vicky, Thank you for all your encouragement....as awful as week before last was, pure hell, this past week was wonderful. We went to the dr on Tues and I told the dr all my concerns and all that he had been doing and he said Donnie was rapidly getting worse and increased one of his medacines and gave him something for the headaches. the week went so good. Donnie actually seemed to be hiby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Vicky, I worry about myself....but what I don't understand is how he can still hold down his job and maintain a working relationship and treat those he works with ok, and his family ok, my family ok...and even our son....but when he walks thru the door, me, Dalton, and Christian are always his targets. I know it's the disease but how can he control himself around everyone else and treat me andby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I am also sorry for what you are going thru. I am going thru this same thing with my husband, minus him being an alcoholic. He is ALWAYS ,mad a me....I have a post on here called "my story" I too feel like I have no hope....I am so sick of people saying "he is sick." Tyler, when you say your wife is in the later mid stages, what exactly is she doing? my husband was diagnosed in Aug. of this year. The dr said he from what he could tell from the MRI and the way Donnie was acting, he was well into the middle stages....I was just wondering what I could compare him too.....his symptoms are and have always been so mental....he has terrible outburst of anger, heby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I hope you find a dr. soon cause she really needs to find out and get on the proper medication.....my husbands neurologist ordered the genetic test and an MRI also....the MRI is to see if there is any "brain volume loss" that is a direct result from having HD...my husband had a lot of brain volume loss......he seems to be getting so much worse every day...I really hope they do another oby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Vicky, I try to remind myself...but my personality is not the " I'll be understanding and loving no matter how much you trash talk me" I just don't have that in me. He is on medication 100 mg zolaft and 50 mg of siriquil. also 2 sleeping pills that don't help any!! we go back to the dr. Tues. and I cant wait to talk to him. Thank you Vicky. Coming off a bad weekend, I need to vent......I can't remember if in a previous post I told you all about how he acted about 10 weeks ago my pastor's wife broke her leg. she was our piano player and I played the bass guitar. when she was no longer able to go on stage, my pastor's son took over worship. he played the keyboard and sang only praise and worship...Donnie had a fitby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thank you Vicky. You always seem to know just what to say to help me. Last night he got so mad at me because I didn't sit down in the living room and talk to him. I was in the kitchen cooking supper and our 16 yr. old was in there talking to me and he when I told him supper was ready he came in there and "bumped up" against me twice, so similar to a shove, but not exactly. he does tby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thanks everyone for your input. It helps so much to have people understand when you say my everyday life is a roller coaster. and it litterally is. I have friends and family who try to understand but you can never really understand this disease and what it's like living with someone with HD. also to add to the drama.....my 21 yr. old who I have also mentioned, that is in complete denial, told me Friday night that he has decided he wants to be tested......he feels like he has HD also. I don't know how to feel about this, I think he is way too young to have to deal with a diagnosis like this. Does anyone have any suggestions what I should do about this? Well he came home, and everything went pretty good for about a week. as you have read in my previous post, Donnie's grandma is very sick and expected to die anyday.. well Wed. night we were over there Donnie's mom and all her brothers and sisters got into it. one of the brotherswho lives next door to her, said I'll just go get my gun and take care of all of this. well Donnie was already veryby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Vicky, Sonny and Dj. all of your inputs are wonderful and help me more than you could ever imagine.. Well I went and got Dalton and brought him home. He told Donnie how sorry he was and Donnie also apologized to him. Things were good tonight but as you all know that could change at any second. I am thankful that tonight we have peace......that means so much. He even kissed me goodnight andby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Vicky, Thank you so much. I think you should write a book or do siminars or something. You are so wise. Donnie has decided that I can bring him home this afternoon when I get off work. He doesn't really seem thrilled with it but he just needs to be home. Donnie's personallity has changed in the most drastic way. He used to be so easy going, loving, gentle, person in the world. he never goby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
it helps so much to read everyone's post. We have made it thru an extremely bad night last night (in on of my previous post) today has not been much better. Donnie made my 16 yr old leave last night and go to his grandmas. I have cried and pleaded with him all day to let him come home. he finally told me I could go get him tomorrow if I wanted to. I want to, but I want things to change In tby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center

We became foster parents 2 years ago and we have 2 boys. they are 11 and 16. my 16 yr old had a small wreck last night while we were out of town. he was not suppose to be out driving. that is kindof the way Donnie has been this year. He was very symtomatic for the past 2 1/2 years but he has snowballed this year. We also had an MRI and the test showed alot of "brain volume loss" that may be how his dr. diagnosed his stage being " well into the middle stages" is what he said. thank you so much VRE. Your input has really cleared up alot of questions that I have. He does still drive and hold down his job but somedays I wonder how much longer that will last. He gets so tired really easily and seems to be worse when he is tired. He has sevier headaches to where he just has to spend the day in bed. He has not applied for dissibility yet. my story is so similar to all the other stories on here. My husband of almost 23 years was diagnosed in August. He is 43. his grandpa died in his 60's his dad in his 50's. It is hard to pinpoint when Donnie's symptoms started. If I look back there was always some anger issues but he has always been madly in love with me. there was always some jealousy issues but I thought it was just a normaby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi. my name is Elizabeth and my husband was diagnosed in Aug. of this year. He started moving his hands alot. Dear Dolly, I just sat and cried when I read your post. my heart breaks for you cause I know exactly how you feel. I am loosing my husband of almost 23 years to this dreadful disease. I watch him slip away more everyday. He has been showing signs for a couple of years but he seemed to snowball this year. His dad and grandpa both died of HD. his grandpa was in his 60's, his dad 50's, and Doby eteeftaller - Huntington's Disease Support Center
