I'm sorry your going through this with your dad. I know what a hard decision it is I went through it with my mom and my grandfather. My grandfather went into a place for old people where ther were no nurses. This turned out to be terrible for him and he ended up dieing of cancer because we didn't know he was sick. he did have late onset and died at 72. My mom went into a nursing home which haby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
kerri, I am so glad you and your son are getting help and they dont see signs of JHD. I hope you are both feeling better and can enjoy the holiday. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Dusty, I also have trouble typing and my handwriting is horrible. It was pretty bad before HD though. Lucky I can still read fine though. Thanks for the tips! Lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
i just wanted to keep every one posted on my memantine trial. I am still only taking 5ml and my brain is still feeling so much better! and I decided to try 25 mg of seroquel at night and it is helping with my insomnia with no real side effects like other sleep aids ive tried. except one night when we had coctails on Petes b-day. Ive always had trouble with alcohol keeping me awake. I feel hapby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I never noticed it with my mom and she was sick for 20 years and then died in her sleep thank god. she could also still walk although she didn't do it that great. she was also the happiest sick person I know. never once did she complain that she didn't feel well. I really want to be like her. lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I agree with Marsha and Eric. I am having very good results with trying 5ml of mementine and my docter thought it was safe to try . But the thought of this RNA seems risky and scary to me. So I would really need to be convinced! Lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Barb, I am so happy to hear from you and see that you are doing well! You give everyone hope and inspiration and you always have! Lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
That's great Will. 35 consecutive is awesome. I saw a news clip of the marathon on the news and was wondering if you were running. Congratulations on your induction as well. Pby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I think there are plenty of people who are not helped by suppliments. I had a bad reaction to creatine and i dont want to try q10 at this time. the only thing that helped me is fish oil. but its no magic bullet. with hd nothing helps everyone except turning off the gene. trudi, I am doing well on mementine 5ml helps my brain feel and funtion better. and I just started 25 ml of seroquel at night which is helping me sleep. and ive had insomnia for years! I also beleive that taking fish oil has helped with my movements. and I really thought that no medicine would help me. Lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Marilee, I don't know if this would help you but I like it so far. I am taking 5ml mementine which helps my mind feel better. 25 mg seroquel at night for sleep. My movements used to be pretty bad but since I started taking fish oil I beleive they are better. these are 2 of the things that Barb liked as well. thats why I wanted to try it. Good luck finding things that you like! Lauraby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

kerri, you are going through so much my heart goes out to you and your son. I think you are being very strong and doing the best that you can for your family. I have hd and kids and what you are going through is feered by every parent with Hd. I think no matter what happens with HD your son will love and forgive you. he may just need time. And my smyptoms also get worse when I am stessed.by lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
hope finding a new dr does sound like a good planby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
my neurologist did. He also said he didn't have experiece giving it to his hd patients but that he wouldn't mind me trying it because its a fairly safe drug. thats a shame about your husband. maybe you can change thier mind or bring a study with HD.by lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I decided to try mementine since it helped Barb so much and I researched it online. I was starting to feel that time is running out for me as I am 7-10 years into the disease with a cag count of 43 and an average age of onset. and my drs thought it was safe to try even tho they dont use it for hd patients. however since I am very paranoid about having a bad reaction to somtehing and I'm small andby lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I'm really proud of her and I would love to see the report. the part I am happiest about is that she didn't feel that she had to keep it a secret with her friends and in her classroom. I glad she felt she could share it with others so I don't have to think of her as being alone with this news.by lauraandpete - Huntington's Disease Support Center
