Hey everyone, I guess this is a good example how hd works. Me with hd, and sonshine with hd, each with our own opinion, and each getting fixed on their own idea, and having difficulty accomadating another person. So, I stick with what I said, but, this is sonshineès thread, so iève made my point twice, and donèt need to say it again. Sorry ièm not as accomadating or flexible as Ièd like to bby Barb - Huntington's Disease Support Center

No sonshine, they will not protect your employment, BUT, do not discredit the advice I have given from a lot of experience on this forum. You can't protect your job, but you CAN protect your benefits, by taking a sick leave, and then going on benefits. I'm not blowing hot air, I have seen and experienced many people do this, and yes, people with hd HAVE done this, because they had the awareness tby Barb - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Schlinky, I'm glad my post was helpful to you. And sonshine is correct in the following statement, but it doesn't always work out that way: Sonshine said: Please do get familiar with the Americans with Disabilities Act and what an employer can and can not do legally in the situation of a disabled employee. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories. Schlink, I do have one concern for you, but maybe it isn't a problem. When you have been demoted, because of your hd, is there also a pay cut? That is my concern. If you are taking pay cuts, you will not get as much on disability as you would have before the demotions. If your pay has stayed the same, that is good. But, another big concern is this. We'by Barb - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Debi, i'll tell you what the wellbutrin did to me, just so you know what to watch for. I had been having memory problems for about a year, and I was choking on water, so my doc and I decided I needed to get tested for hd. So at the time I was being tested, I was also working graveyard shift at a corner store, and suddenly my usual winter depression hit me. So my usual med, after many years of triby Barb - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi Debi. I don't think anyone has ever posted here about numb hands and feet, so I guess it could be hd? Or med side effects? Or something else? About the wellbutrin, how is your husband doing on it? If he's doing good, then that's good. I had a very bad experience with it, and when I was first diagnosed with hd, first thing the hd clinic did was get me off the wellbutrin immediately. Hey Mike, thank you for catching up with me, I will try and send a note to you tomorrow, so you don't have to, "spill a bunch of stuff" lol. Glad you had a visit with your grandbaby, grandkids are about the best thing in life. Actually we're in the middle of a heat wave that we're not used to here, and I'm on day two of quitting smoking, so i'll write as soon as I'm not a grumpy bearby Barb - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I'm sorry ken, and yes ive been a bit over the top, and I do need to tone things down, so im very sorry, and I'm sorry that ive made your waiting for your results more stressful, we all have stressful things going on, and I wish you the best with your results, again sorry, I have been over the topby Barb - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I would tell your doc your story exactly how you just told us. There is nothing wrong with saying I tested anonomously, and because I am now having obvious symptoms, I now need you to know this, so you can retest me on the record, and begin documenting my illness. Just the way you said it, I don't see any problems with thatby Barb - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Shar, this was your thread, and I'm sorry if I helped it take on a life of it's own. I don't think I even thanked you for such an interesting article, I really liked the article. djcloc, none of my posts, were directed at you, you just have a dif opinion, and that's completely fine, curt is the only one I'm upset with, because of his arrogance and rudeness Curt, you clearly never read the article, and disregard what marsha has said. Lorrie, I'm a person who usually advises against having children, if the father has a positive cag count. Because fathers can quite often pass on a high cag count, meaning juvenile hd. You are in fact the first person that I have encouraged with hope. Your husband and baby are in the Grey area of cag counts, and your husband and child could be fortunate with this cag count, to not show symptoms until a very very old age. I am in my mid 50's, and have been in Very early stage for almost 10 years now. I absolutely love my life, and I learned to love my life with hd too. It is also possible that his father could have had a higher count, which wouby Barb - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Howard, every time I hear your story, and your daughter's story, I am so amazed. She has been so lived so positively with her hd, and how you take care of your daughter, there is no price tag on that.
