Thank you so much for everyone's input. I feel that I should be spending the time with my kids as opposed to attending nursing school full-time. As far as symptoms go, I don't know where I will be in a couple of years. I am already a certified Medical Assistant, and maybe I should just continue with that. I can't kill someone taking their blood can I?? Dove, in answer to your questionby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi, my name is Jessica and I haven't been on here forever. I thought that I would come to you all for your wonderful advice that you all seem to be willing to hand out. My family has been ravished with HD. Unfortunately though the disease seems to kill them all before they are fifty. We don't have high repeats...it's just killed everyone, my grandfather, mother, aunt, and uncle...all. Thby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I do have a doctor's appointment in the middle of December for my thyroid. I haven't been to the thyroid doctor for a couple of years. Kind of silly I know, but the other doctor I was seeing had the audacity to tell me there was nothing he could do about the HD so he really wasn't worried about it. He was taking a medical background and that's how he responded. He also told me he would wait for tby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I think that any media outlet that has the indecency to ridicule, mock, and downplay Micheal J. Fox should be taken off the air. Rush Limbaugh is a fool and will get his eventually. What he did to him was cruel and totally uncalled for. Just goes to show that the man is off his rocker. Jessicaby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi I have a question for any of you on seroquel. I am taking seroquel for my mood problems. I also have an enlarged thyroid due to multi nodular thyroid disease. I have notice that in the last few months that my thyroid is so swollen I am having a very hard time swallowing. It has gotten bad enough that I have actually choked three times. I am not in the stages of HD where my swallowingby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Hi everyone. I just thought that I would share my wonderful news. I have decided that even though this stupid disease is riding my back like an obnoxious monkey, that I am getting married. Again. My first husband and I divorced about a year ago with amicable separating. I have since been with a very kind man who knows what's coming and still loves me and wants to be with me forever. Hi everyone! It has been quite a long time since I have posted on here. I have really been wanting to chat with you all again and have the oppurtunity to read all of the wonderful advice that you all give on a daily basis. Here is my background. My maternal grandfather, his father, and brothers all died from HD. Of course when his dad and uncles all died it was listed on the death certificby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I wish I could hop over the pond and enjoy the benefits of nationalized health care I also know that I did get 50mg pills, but I am just starting the medication and last night thank goodness wasn't nearly as bad as the night before, and I am actually more awaked today than I was when I woke up yesterday...so hopefully it is starting to kickin the right way... Let me add that without health insurance it was 400.00 for a 90 pill prescription...I looked kind of funny walking into walmart and asking for 10, lol. I don't think that I will be able to take a whole 150mg a day at any point...but we'll see...by jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thank you for all of your responses...I really appreciate them...but he said that he was putting me on a low dose...so did the pharmacist...but it seems that maybe it is a large dose... I am hoping that I become used to it after a few days...I know I won't be able to function on it during the day or with anymore mgs than one pill gives...oh well...the kids will enjoy my being out of it, lol.by jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi everyone... I was just wondering if anyone has tried seroquel before...my neurologist put my on it yesterday after my annual testing at the HD clinic... He told me to start slowly by taking one a night for four nights...one in the AM and one in the PM for four nights and then up to the normal dose of two in the PM and one in the AM...let me just tell you that 50mg of the stuff knocked meby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Everyone has their own opinion on this issue...I just wish that people weren't so hypocritical. Has anyone taken into consideration that not everyone can afford alternative methods of conception...or adoption? Regardless of whether or not the gene has been passed on to them...our children are all going to watch us suffer from this illness... My children are a blessing...a true miracle..by jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I haven't been on here for awhile...but I have my reasons... I got pregnant before I was tested...and after...not planned by my exhusband and I, but someone higher had different plans... When I found out that I was pregnant with my second child the doctor's asked if I would like to have genetic counseling...they also asked if I would be willing to terminate if the fetus was carrying the HDby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Actually I meant at the PG Pavillion where they will be performing. Not necessarily Brooks and Dunn related, or even getting them involved, but if for any reason they happen to mention it during the concert...well then there would be means for people to obtain information. I already spoke to one of the women at the HD Clinic in Pittsburgh and she said that they were all going to be on a confeby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Brooks and Dunn are performing in Pittsburgh in the middle of June and I am would like to get a booth or something together to get the word out and maybe even raise some money. I was thinking that I would have to first contact the local HD chapter and see what they have to say... Any ideas Jessicaby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I'm not sure how old it is...but I do know that you go to www.clickstar.com and it is on there. You can either rent it for $3.00 or buy it for $9.00 or $10.00.by jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Has anyone had the opportunity to watch the documentary 50/50 directed by Barry Levine. I saw that Danny DeVito was in on it too. I tried to get it off the clickstar webpage but for some reason my computer wouldn't download the right media player...by jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Hi...it's so nice to see you on here. I noticed the youtube posting about a month ago or so and immediatly told all of my friends and family about it. In the 49 years that my beautiful mother was on this earth...not once did we tell her that she had HD. Not matter how obvious her symptoms, no matter the fact that she was arrested on New Years Day one year for being "drunk" or under the influence...not once did we tell her. There were hundreds and hundreds of times when I wanted to tell her...we never did.by jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center

I have a seven year old son, who over the last year or so has started to exhibit several behavioral issues that he didn't have before. He has become whiny, angry, and just not himself, he has also been struggling with school. Keep in mind though that he has been through a divorce, lost four great-grandparents, and moved in with another boy about his age, all within the last year. I'm going to assume that the only blood work will be basic chemistry panels and blood counts. I highly doubt that they would provide any genetic testing at all. They will test sugar, cholesterol, and counts thats all. Nothing to worry about...unless of course you fancy McDonald's, lol Jessicaby jessianne - Huntington's Disease Support Center
