Schmoie, you should definately invest...you should ask your banking sister first! I like all the other advice given. I like the 401k, but if you need to more advice...I know a local guy who could explain it better.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center

My message was not directed towards Fred, but to JL. He makes her upset...he tries to...so the best thing she could do would be to not respond and then it would end there.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hey, JL. I was reading this whole thread and I disagree with you saying that Fred failed to understand that he was being mean spirited. I see it in a whole different light. Fred knows exactly what he is doing...in fact he likes to make people uncomfortable. I know that I have only been on this site for a breif time (and have got a lot of positive things out of it), and I don't claim to know anby katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Yes, my sister and I participated in one Predict HD study. They find a testing/ research site of your choice and take care of the accomodations. This year we did not participate.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
That was a tuff step to make. I truly hope that your results are negative. Thinking about you...by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I like to thank people and to compliment them. I am a true believer that if someone has something nice to say they should say it.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Oh my gosh, your little girls are so cute!!! How precious, you are truly blessed...Happy Mothers Day!by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I am also very sad to hear of your Uncles passing. I hope that you are getting the support that you need.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Just wanted to say thanks. In December of 2004 I signed on and remembered that someone's words were encouraging. I just went back to see if my post was still here and was shocked that it was. I read on ans saw that it was you, thanks.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Happy Mother's Day to everyone as well. What an important job!!! I love being a mother...wouldn't trade it for the world.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Barb that sounds great. I do make smoothies in my blender with soy prorein powder and various fruits. I did not know about losing fiber through juiceing...very interesting. I will definately think more about the smoothies. Every time after I work out I get a blu berry madness smoothie w/ soy protein. Maybe I should stick to that? Thanks!by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I love blueberries! They are my favorite. The unfortunate thing is that i often have to wait until season...but i often go for the frozen kind. Thanks for the info!! My next step is to get a really great juicer and work with that too.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thank you for everyones information, it was very helpful. I am sorry to anyone who is facing HD as a possibility for themselves and their children. It wasn't explained to me thoroughly, but at the time I also didn't retain much information either. Thanks Julie, JL, Lou_22, billy and Marsha.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
thanks, for the information. That site was helpful. Things were explained to me, but not in great detail concerning the passing to my kids. I will do more research. Although the more research I do, the more confused I am...the information really seams to differ.by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I am confused about the implications of a 30 countI know that I will not develope symptoms but, I was just reading in a thread that the 30 count could be passed down through the generations and jump. I thought that my children were not at risk...I am very confused!by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Michelle, I am sooo frusterated for you! I was just reading your update and the post from Heather. That is such descrimination that you are facing, everyone should have an opportunity to be insured...no one should be denied! I wish there was something that I could do to help your situation, and anyone else facing the same thing. Things need to change in Australia in this respect. You are wonby katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Gordon, I really liked your post. Thanks for being able to articulate the things that I was thinking. Thankfully I tested neg. for HD, so I wouldn't need to consider this as an option. I still think that it should be left as a possibility for certain diseases. I have also heard that it is beneficial for MS. Just like any prescription medication, or over the counter med. it would work differentby katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hello Anders, I know what you are feeling. I went through the process two years ago with my sister. I was scared, nervous and I wondered if I really wanted to go through with it. I can tell you what the process was like for me. First session- the genetic counselor asked me questions about my family history and to make sure that I wanted to go through with it. Then he and his assistant had mby katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hey Michelle, How Frusterating!!! I think that you should look somewhere else for insurence also. Before I went through the genetic testing process I also went for life insurence. I went through Washington Mutual (not sure if there is one in Australia). They insured me and the only question that was kind of close to that was "Does your family have a history of mental illness". I answeby katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I think that people can only give their individual opion on the matter (what they would do for themselves). I don't think that it is wise for anyone to guess what is right for someone else. This is a very important thing to grasp- Marijuana is not legal and won't be legal because the government would have a hard time regulating it. It would be too easy for somoene to grow their own crop and tby katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
That was so funny... hee heeby katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
lol. Yes, I think it is just a sensitive subject for a lot of people. I just wouldn't want to count it out. Plus I think that it would be more available if the drug companies found some way to regulate it! They want their money you know?by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I know that I am probably going against the grain here, BUT if it does help someone have a greater appitite and it works for them I am all for it. I wish that my grandpa had some when he was going through chemo. I beleive that would have really helped him. There have been a few studies on medicianal marijuana for cancer patients. I know that we are taliking about it's use for HD patients.,by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hello Allen, I just wanted to congradulate you on being honest with the changes that you are seeing in yourself. I am sorry to hear about your dad, but just by being aware that some of the changes that you mentioned is a step in the right direction. I beleive that by being proactive about learning about the disease and symptoms helps you gain some control over an out of control situation. Myby katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hey Paula, i was actually just talking with Barb and as i posted, I love having this place for a releif...but it's my thing and my sister really doesn't want to be a part of it yet...so i thought that i would try to leave her out. thanks for the interest though!by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hey thanks Barb, sorry that I am beibng so difficult. I think I know where that came from. I wrote that to steve along with a breif note letting him know that i was having trouble logging in. I think that it was posted. The one that i posted here that is much shorter, is great for me. Thanks again, I really appreciate it!!!by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
...i had originally created the first one, i didn't think that i sent it though. This is an outlet for me and not for my sister, as per her wishes and my descretion i would like to leave her out of this... thanks!!!by katie - Huntington's Disease Support Center
