Dave--I will call on around Monday and find out more. I am in Texas. Carrell- my friend is talking about her needs once she is released from the hospital. I agree she is in the best care right now. She is eating again, showering and being monitored closely, after she had a choking episode end of May. Pat--Thank you, I do feel like I am turning my back on her if I let someone else be her guarby bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hey guys, I have been so busy with a new job and other things I have not had much time. I am needing some more help with what to do about my mom. Just to get you up to date with everything. Mom is very sick (very possibly HD--runs in our family through her mom, aunt, grandmother, cousins) and got really bad living alone, so we had to have her taken to the state hospital. She refused treatmenby bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
today the social worker called me (well after i paged him) and he said she refuses to go see the neurologist, they have made two attempts, i think and he said it is her right to refuse. i just sighed. of course even ppl who cant make conscious decisions have the right to refuse help. she told them her boyfriend/fiance (imaginary person) will be caring for her. i told him (for the 2nd time) shby bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Bridget, Yes, I totally understand! I do have someone in my family that has become very close to me and she has been my shining light in all of this. She sent me a message on facebook back in October and said she was my mom's cousin. I couldn't believe it. I had heard her name in stories from when they were kids, and here she was!! I had never even met her!! I was so excited and I just staby bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
hi, i am Mandeline and I'm 28yrs old. I am delighted to find others that have had or are having the same situations as me. I live in Texas, and my mom will be receiving a dx soon. My grandmother (Bettie Jean) died with HD, as did her sister, and their mother. Grandma's sister has 4 kids and one of the daughters was diagnosed as well. I want to get tested and plan my life accordingly.by bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi Bridget, My heart goes out to you. My family hasn't lied about testing but my mom decided that the less we knew about the disease the better. Even so far as to tell us we were not allowed to ask any family members about it. so we never did. and some days i am mad at her about that. not encouraging us to learn more. Everyone (the fam) around here buried their heads in the sand and pretenby bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
everyone for your support. letting go is the hardest even though i have so many mixed feelings for her as it is...by bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi, I'm so sorry about your grandma. my grandma was bettie jean, so i use her name as my email and screen names all the time. she was diagnosed w/ HD in '93...i think... All of the HD is on my mom's side and it's rampant. My family is exactly the same WE NEVER TALKED ABOUT IT. my mom for sure has it and REFUSES to acknowledge anything is wrong with her! She keeps saying there is absolutelyby bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
there is so much i want to say and i dont know where to start and how to get it out. i may have to write my own book lol My mom is sick with HD and i feel like she regretted having kids. one of my earliest memories of her, we were driving to my grandma and grandpas and she had just told us how broke we were and we had to go to our grandparents to get some money. i sat back in my seat and was tby bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center

thank you so much for your advice. i almost wish we had not mentioned HD to the hospital. she doesnt know she has lost her home. i'm afraid to tell her and don't know how.by bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My mom had to be taken to the state hospital because she has refused to get help for her issues. She is in a huge state of denial about her symptoms and refuses to acknowledge anything is wrong. She has no health insurance, no job, is now evicted from her home. She has no where to go. I live on campus at school and so does my other sister and none of my family members can care for her. we liby bettiejean81 - Huntington's Disease Support Center
