Can anyone tell me what constitutes stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 etc.

My cousin has been told that he is in stage 3, but we don't know how that it is determined.

What you are looking for is described in

Jim Pollard has a different variation of stages described in

Hi, Lisa!

The two sets of stages of HD are totally arbitrary, very crude and lack predictive validity. Within any stage there is such a wide span of skill, disability and problems that they really lack any utility.

When someone refers to someone as in any particular stage I hear it as mumbo-jumbo. In fact, I have never described any person with HD to another healthcare professional by noting what stage they are in; and I've never had one described to me in stages.

In an attempt to subvert the use of these scales I came up with my own that Steve mentioned. I believe that there's more to learn in them than in the other sets of stages. Check 'em out!

Smash the Stages!

Jim
