Did anyone get back to you ? I just reconnected too . Or has this become , a sight they don't use anymore ?by db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
It's been a long time . I was going to just catch up on any new health tips anyone has been trying . I have not tested ; still . My Mom passed away from HD . My sister has signs , but not tested . This sight was very inspirational for me years ago , when I first realized about HD in our family .by db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Well my dear sweet Mom has passed away in death . She was 88 years old . She passed away with family by her side . I realize some with hd have much harder time than Mom did . But I have posted off and on for those who have hd who might do as well as Mom did . To give all of you hope . That you can live life to an older age . I'm not saying you will not have challenges , or even that it will beby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Thanks , RichS and Will . A cute story to tell you . Dad went to see Mom a few days ago . He put his hat down , Mom spied it , and promptly put it on her head . And looked at Dad . It made Dads night . Anyways , All of my best . dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
My dear Mom is still alive . She is in her late , late , stages of HD . She is in a Continuous Care Facility . I think it has been 6 or 7 years she has been there . My Dad visits her most days . She still recognizes him and she still recognizes me after I say to her its me db your daughter . Dad talks to her the same subjects over and over again and that works out well . We as a family made a deby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi , I just read your post and thought I would add a little of my insight . My hd Mom is almost 90 in the late stages in a continuous care facility . My Moms mind just does not focus on food most of the time . I think if you can sneak in protein powder or any nutritious add ins , you should try that . All you can do is your best . And then practice trying to not get upset with yourself whenby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
Hi Will it's me db . It's been awhile . I read your latest post . You have done so well . You must be so proud of how much you have done . You have been very inspiring to many . I have always been amazed at you . You will be great at assisting them with that race next year . Take care . all my best . dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
If I was in a similar position , as hard as it might be I would get help . First help for me , because so many of us no how hard it is to make any decision when our mind is crowded with thoughts and emotions . You need to strengthen you , build yourself up . Your in a complex situation . A very difficult one to talk about . Talking here is good , finding someone near you , would be really good .by db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

My Mom was on benadryl for a while a long time ago . She had hives that no one was able to understand why she had hives . Anyways , I know at the time I hated that she was on benadryl , because people with HD , it is not the best for them . Or at least I think I read that . Maybe someone else has heard or read that ? Also so sorry about your dear son . My best. dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Thanks , I hoped that Mom can be an encouragement for some with HD . and what I mean by that , is ' Mom seems contented with life . most of the time . She still has her moments that are not good . but all of us in the family and in her long-term care facility; we try to not upset her , with her trigger points . If she says no to something ( like her meds ) we skip the meds or try later .by db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
This should be encouraging for some of you . You might remember Mom has now been in a long-term care facility for about 13 months . She went there after she became very sick with pneumonia and we were told this was it and she was going to die . Good old Mom fooled us all and kept living . At the time she was sick she stayed in the hospital 5 or more months . Because at that time she lost her abby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
hi , my Mom also gets that yellow crust around her nose and a little on her scalp . dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I personally feel that you can look at families and get a sense of how the HD might play out . What I have been fortunate to see in my family is pHD living out their lives into their late 60's and 70's and 80's and 90's . I realize that many do not have that experience , but , I do . That is not to say those with HD don't have symptoms and problems in my family , because they do . Judgement is iby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Dave I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear wife . Like Alice I have been inspired by yours and Diana's life together . I know you'll miss her so much . Thank you for sharing her with us . All of my best thoughts . dbby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
I don't have any big suggestions ; but , a little one . Phone the Doctor ahead of time and leave a message or if possible talk to the DX. himself . And explain that it would be a real help if he made an ongoing follow up appointment for your Mom , after this one . We found if the DX. said to my Mom , that she needed to be seen on a specific date , she tended to show up for the app.'s . Even wiby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center

Alice for the last little while , I have been having spasms in my instep when I go to bed . It hurts and I move it this way and that . Sometimes I message it with my other foot . So far it calms down after a while . But , I obsess a little . and worry what if the pain doesn't go . I know putting up with the pain for a short time is doable , if it went on longer , I don't know how I would dealby db - Huntington's Disease Support Center
